Mongolonyx robustus was one of the largest predatory mesonychids that lived during the Middle Eocene in Inner Mongolia (China). The studies define Mesonychia as basal to all ungulates, occupying a position between Perissodactyla and Ferae.
Mongolonyx fossils have been found in the Irdin Manha beds, in Inner Mongolia. It was a huge carnivorous animal comparable in size to a large bear.
