Sansanosmilus (Sansanosmilus Kretzoi, 1929)

 

Order: Carnivora

Family: Barbourofelidae

Range and period of existence: endemic to Europe and Asia, which lived during the Miocene, 13.6—11.1 mya, existing for approximately 2.5 million years.

Dimensions: length - 1,5 m, height - 75 cm, weight - 80 kg.

Species: S. palmidens

               S. vallesiensis. However, Robles et al. (2013) transferred S. jourdani (which they considered to be a senior synonym of S. vallesiensis) to the genus Albanosmilus.

Немыслимо! Этот наглейший американский таксон посмел распространяться в вотчине настоящих саблезубов на другом континенте? По морде видно, что это не кот, а уникальный зверь иного порядка... Классная реконструкция! Он тогда борзелна евразийских просторах потому, что пращуры махайродов еще котятами были? А то бы оприходовали его быстро!
