I mean "ore ancient family"))) The closest modern relative is The African palm civet (Nandinia binotata), also known as the two-spotted palm civet. But this animal is more distant from Dinocrocuta than Mongoose from hyena.

Hyenadon didn't left modern descendants. Hyaenodon ("hyaena-toothed") is the type genus of Hyaenodontidae, a group of extinct carnivorous creodonts of the family Hyaenodontidae endemic to all continents except South America, Australia and Antarctica, living from 42—15.9 mya, existing for approximately 26.1 million years. Creodonta is an extinct order of mammals that lived from the Paleocene to the Miocene epochs. Creodonts shared a common ancestor with the Carnivora.

What is its modern relative? It's very hyena-like. But I'm also seeing bear-like characteristics I'm even thinking big cats or wolves. I know it's not a kin to Hyenadon. Cause from what I hear Hyenadon was a kin to raccoons...
